Following an extremely successful first weekend in Derby, our swimmers did brilliantly well.
We gained: 9 golds, 6 silvers, 13 bronzes, 49 top 6 finishes (medals), 79 PBs.
All swimmers who competed should be very pleased with themselves – keep up the hard work. I hope the final 2 weekends are successful.

Well done to all the swimmers who took part in the Club Champs. We had an excellent weekend in and out of the pool.
We gained a massive 250 PBs as well as many young swimmers experiencing their first ever gala. Results are now available.
We would like to thank ALL the officials and helpers for their hard work.
Also, special thanks to John Pemberton and Carl Baxter who bravely volunteered to learn how to use the AOE Timing System at the last minute and did so with great effect.
Once again well done to everybody.

The winners of the Derbyshire Sports Awards were announced last night at a special awards ceremony. We are extremely proud to inform you that our very own Dr Hunt was the joint winner in the Derby Evening Telegraph Service to Sport category. Dr Hunt is a founder member of Rykneld Swimming Club who has given countless hours of his time to county, district and national events over many years.
The Derbyshire Sports Awards provide a way of recognising and celebrating the successes of local athletes and people involved in sport in the county. Winners of the Derbyshire Sports Awards could go through to the East Midlands Sports Awards and even to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
Well done to all the swimmers competing in Session 1 of the Club Champs on Friday. Hopefully the next Session on Sunday will be as successful. The results can be found on the Club Champs 2008 results page.
Thank you once again to all the officials and other volunteers who help to run these events, without you they couldn’t take place. All hands to the deck on Sunday too please!!
Rykneld is the first swimming club in the East Midlands to be accredited for a discipline other than swimming, and is the second club in the country, alongside Bristol to achieve accreditation in both Swimming and Synchro. Visit the British Swimming website for a full report.
The club would like to thank Dr David Hunt for all his dedication and hard work in co-ordinating our bid to attain this accolade. Documentation supporting our Swim 21 application can be found on the Swim 21 page.
Well done to all our swimmers taking part in our open meet this weekend and a big thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time to help make this a very successful gala. The full results for the gala can be found here.
