Each week I will put the weekends events, swimmers warm up etc on the Sharley Park notice board. If I miss anyone’s name off, come & see me, I also have a copy of the programme. Please take note of the phone number for withdrawing. The organiser can be contacted upto 1 hour before the start of each session. Remember if you just don’t turn up, you will be fined.
I’ve delayed writing about the swim camp because I knew that Nikki was about to make this site a “blog” so everyone can comment about the camp or anything anyone writes about it. So the aims of the camp: build fitness, team spirit, racing skills, improve diet etc. Were they achieved? We had problems with the pool, a lot of swimmers suffering with a bad cough. Then the water was too cold. Most swimmers probably did 2-2.5 times their weekly training. In future should we aim for mega metres, a hell week, instead of hiring the services of an international swimmer. Should we consider going abroad? The only real test of whether the camp was a success, starts this weekend, the County Championships.
Well done to all our swimmers who took part in the Matlock Novice Gala this month.

Well done to all competing in the meet. 13 swimmers achieved 15 pb,s this includes Emma’s split at 50m on the 100m breast, and only 1 injury. I hope you get well soon Eddy!
The County Championships in March are the most important, in terms of ability for the vast majority of the club, we have 45 swimmers entered. A few will go on to the Regional Championships, even less to the Nationals.
Out of those 45 swimmers, 31 are going to Denstone, a training camp specifically designed for preparation for the County Champs. Each year I enter a meet in January to get swimmers racing again, and to establish for myself and for the swimmer, “where they are at re fitness etc” prior to the swim camp.
So my question is:
Why are so many swimmers (over half entered in the County Champs) not entering the meet specifically targeted for their development towards the County Champs.
Well done to Lucy Evans, our first swimmer of the month for 2008.
